Do I need a TEFL/TESOL
Certificate to teach overseas ?
In some countries it may be possible to teach English without
any teaching qualifications but these positions are normally
low paid and illegal. The TEFL/TESOL job market has become
more sophisticated over the past 5-10 years and it is nearly
impossible to find teaching work today without an internationally
recognised TEFL/TESOL certificate. Simply being a native
speaker of English is not enough anymore. An Internationally
recognised TEFL/TESOL certificate verifies that
you have the knowledge and expertise necessary to effectively
teach English in a foreign country.
What´s
best for me Online or Onsite ?
It really depends upon your time commitments. Some people
prefer our online TEFL Certification Course because they
prefer studying from home or they may have
time commitments which prevent them from having the luxury
of re-locating to Prague to study onsite. An online course
has the added advantage of being financially more
bearable. Other people prefer our onsite TEFL/TESOL
Certification Course because you become at once accustomed
to cultural diversity, you learn in a group
of other TEFL/TESOL Trainees, you get to spend an incredible
time in this awesome city and
you gain your first teaching experiences hands-on.
Where
can I teach ?
Perhaps the question would better be answered if it were
reversed. Where can’t I teach? There is such a huge
demand for qualified TEFL/TESOL instructors
globally that you can teach virtually anywhere. ITTP has
listings for teaching jobs in Arab Emirates, Argentina,
Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Czech Republic,
Ecuador, Egypt, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, Japan, Korea,
Mexico, Morocco, Phillipines, Portugal, Romania, Russia,
Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela,
Vietnam and others.....In fact, there is also a high demand
for TEFL instructors even in English speaking countries
like the US and Britain where many students choose to travel
to learn English as a foreign language. Typically, many
of our newly qualified teachers teach a year here in Prague
before branching out to Asia, South America and Africa.
Recently we have seen trends towards teachers doing a teaching
stint in one of the Middle Eastern countries where salaries
are among the best in the world for TEFL/TESOL
instructors.
What
qualifications are you looking for in an applicant ?
Our internationally recognised TEFL/TESOL Certification
Course is open to anyone whose first language is
English or whose mother tongue is English
or for people who speak English proficiently.
Applicants must also be over the age of 17. Applicants with
previous teaching experience or who have learnt a foreign
language may find the first week‘s studies a little
less demanding but usually by the second week everyone is
on about the same level.
What is the Course timetable
?
The course timetable is very intensive.
Classes start at 9:00 and finish at 16:30. Trainees have
a lot of homework to prepare for the next day so there is
not much time for letting your hair down during the weekdays.
However, at weekends we encourage our new trainees to go
explore the beautiful Czech countryside or stay
in Prague and discover this wonderful city.
Do I need a visa to enter Europe
and take this Course? (I am American)
As an American citizen you will receive a 3 month tourist
visa (free), on arrival to the Czech Republic. This is perfectly
acceptable for the length of the TEFL/TESOL Course and for
a further 2 months after. If you do plan to stay in Prague
and teach we will assist you in getting
a work permit.
Is any dress code required
?
No dress code is required. We respect people for who they
are and how they want to dress.
What
kind of people take the course ?
A whole range of people from many different backgrounds
take our TEFL/TESOL certification course. ITTP welcomes
all applications, regardless of sex, age, race
or nationality. The only conditions we have are set by international
guidelines. These are that applicants should be a native,
or advanced English speaker (i.e. English is your first
language or Mother Tongue or you speak English proficiently)
and, applicants must be 17 or over.
How
busy will I be ?
During the week you will be very busy but
you will have time over the weekends to unwind
a little and enjoy your first steps abroad
in this wonderful country.
Can I prepare myself for the
Course in any way ?
When you enrol onto our Internationally recognised TEFL/TESOL
Certification Course you will recieve a reading
list which we recommend you read before starting
your TEFL/TESOL Course. The reading list will prepare you
in terms of being able to identify grammatical structures
and also will give the reader an insight into contemporary
pedagogic styles and theory relevant to the Course.
When do Courses start and when
is the best time to enrol?
Please refer to DATES AND PRICES
for Course start and finishing dates.
Our Courses are very popular, and we cannot predict how
fast Courses will fill up. The sooner you apply the better
chances you will have of securing a place.
